When the topic of sustainability comes up, rarely does the word “plastics” come to mind.
Knowing our industry faces many challenges, Priority Plastics realizes it must always be diligent about working better and harder to help protect our planet. We’ll continue to put in the effort with the products we make AND conduct business with an emphasis on responsibility.
Protection. Plastics maintain the freshness and safety of the products inside—nothing is more important. They ensure the bad stays out and the good stays in.
Convenience. Consumers lean toward what makes their lives easier and keeps them happy. With this in mind, we need to believe and engage in a circular economy, a closed-loop system in which plastics are not simply used once and discarded. Instead, the plastics retain value in the economy without leaking and spoiling the natural environment. By also being more inexpensive, they put less burden on consumers’ ever-shrinking wallets.
The reality is clear: Plastics are essential and here to stay. Every day, we use them for everything from toothpaste to water, clothing to toys—not to mention packaging. By working hard, we do everything in our power to be a more sustainable business.
How Priority Plastics is winning today:
The future looks bright for launching greater innovations to create better products.
At Priority Plastics, we monitor and improve resin usage while also establishing greater operational efficiency. Our goal of achieving zero waste continues; we reuse and regrind all unusable materials (chunks and scraps) as well and enforce cross-plant utilization.
We work in tandem with our local municipalities to recycle cardboard and corrugate. Our plants are improving our infrastructure by establishing baselines and goals to reduce our carbon emission footprints through smarter energy and water consumption. We are on a journey to improve and reduce the impact of our manufacturing waste footprint.
How Priority Plastics will win in the near future:
There simply is no rest for innovation.
Technological investment upgrades to all electric machines, and the spark to reduce carbon footprint, instigates faster changeovers and bolsters productivity. We are furthering our commitment to sustainability by becoming members of EcoVadis and The Association of Plastic Recyclers. EcoVadis provides holistic sustainability rating services of companies to benchmark and identify areas of improvement in environment, social, ethics and sustainability; while The Association of Plastic Recyclers represents companies committed to increasing recycled plastic use in the supply chain, as well as enhancing its quality and expanding demand. We value the importance of partnering with organizations that guide us to improve.
How Priority Plastics wins over the long haul:
Plastic packaging has to keep evolving.
We will offer products made to help reduce virgin resin usage, securely protect the product inside and help partner on sustainability goals. When you see them, look for symbols showcasing our commitment to and support for sustainability.
Lightweighting
On average, all products marked with The GreenLite Logo can be produced using 20% less resins, without compromising its durability and still remaining lightweight.
Multilayer
The core content of GreenLite products can be made with recycled material or post-consumer resins, sandwiched between virgin resin layers.
Post-Consumer
Any product marked with the GreenLite Logo can be made with up to 100% post-consumer resin.
We understand the impact plastics have on our environment, and we are committed to doing our part to help out. It is important to continually look for new answers, address sustainability head on and strive to provide solutions that matter for generations to come.
