Maintenance Specialist
Summary
Position will be required to perform maintenance activities on the plant’s machines, equipment, and the building.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair of PLC’s and PLC controlled equipment and systems such as AC/DC, 480/240/120 Voltages, rectifiers, electrical controls and buss systems.
- Use instrumentation and tools necessary for diagnosing problems (volt/ohm meters, oscilliscopes, amp probes, pyrometers, tachometers, etc.) ultrasonic testers, computers.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, ladder logic diagrams, schematics, sketches, and facility drawings.
- Basic plumbing; repair and maintain facility water, gas, waste, air, oil, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems using appropriate equipment and materials.
- Inspect and replace pneumatic and hydraulic hoses.
- Troubleshoot and repair problems on molding machines, grinders, augers, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, hydraulic systems and support equipment.
- Perform all tasks necessary to maintain efficient and quality production levels on each machine.
- Perform set up and changeover on molding equipment, as needed.
- Assist with preventive maintenance responsibilities in their assigned area, as needed.
- Perform mold, neck tooling, pin, and other equipment changes.
- Communicate machine repair status and all other machine needs to Maintenance Supervisor/Manager.
- Respond to emergency situations including the safety of plant facility and equipment.
- Maintain or exceed current operation to meet safety, quality, housekeeping, and production standards.
- May supervise and train the work of others within the same department.
- Perform assigned special projects.
- Assist in updating, developing, and improving preventive maintenance programs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED education required. Technical vocational training or Associate’s Degree preferred.
- Five to ten years of industrial maintenance experience, injection or blow molding experience preferred.
- Strong electrical knowledge or electrician experience preferred.
- Able to read electrical, hydraulic, circuits, and logic schematics.
- Advanced understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC drawings and functions.
- Advanced decision-making and analytical problem solving skills using DMAIC and FMEA.
- Able to drive powered industrial trucks required.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts.
